Introducing ALBA Workshops
Facilitating Professional Exchange in Automotive Battery Technology
Cutting-edge hybrid workshops for battery & power-supply experts.
What Makes ALBA Unique
A global, application-driven forum connecting car & truck makers (OEMs), battery companies, suppliers and researchers to define next-generation low-voltage battery systems.

Global Expert Network
Access to 90+ leading experts in battery technology and power-supply systems
Early Insight into Future Requirements
Discuss along the value-added chain: emerging specifications, new tools, application-relevant knowledge.
Collaborative Workshop Format
Virtual Workstreams prepare content jointly. On-site: short technical presentations (typically 150s) followed by hands-on breakout discussions.

Join ALBA 2027
ALBA 2027 will commence in January with Virtual Workstreams. It will be concluded by the face-to-face event on 24-25 June in Stuttgart. Focus Topics:
- Low temperature performance (discharge power and charging recovery) and benchmarking of lead, sodium, lithium technologies
- When can sodium-ion batteries enter automotive mass market, and what are the key challenges?
- Sizing, selection and operation of batteries in 12V and 24V systems
- Battery testing: new standards, best practices for labs advanced test & screening methods
Past Workshops
DCA & Heat 2017 - 2020: Jointly developing test methods and system integration rules for micro-hybrid 12 V batteries, addressing the apparent trade-off between maximized brake-energy recuperation (dynamic charge acceptance, DCA) and high-temperature durability - resulting in a new EN high-temperature endurance (HTE) test, a collection of best practices for 75°C cell testing, etc.
2017 Kloster Eberbach, Germany
2018 Alcalá de Hénares, Spain
2019 Bruges, Belgium
2020/2021 two online workshops
ALBA 2021 - 2024: Gradually shifting toward auxiliary and backup batteries, Functional Safety implications on battery specifications, jointly supporting test development (pulse power characterization PPC and charge recovery CR) for the new IEC 60095-8, demonstrating ways to maximize power recovery (state of function, SOF) of lead batteries
2022 Bergamo, Italy
2023 Wolfsburg, Germany
2024 Paris, France
ALBA 2025 - 2027: Widening the scope to other technologies (particularly sodium-ion batteries), jointly supporting the new IEC 63711-1 project, introducing a sizing tool and operation guidelines for batteries in electrified vehicles without starter nor alternator
2025 Turin, Italy and Kota Kinabalu (ABC), Borneo
2026 Mainz (AABC), Germany
2027 Stuttgart (Battery Show), Germany
